GTGC Memories

All enjoyed a beautiful fall morning at Bourner Botanical Gardens for our September 2021 membership meeting. Special thanks to Cindy Bohlen, Leslie Collings, Sally Kubly, Kathy Palmer, and Monnine Parnitzke for coordinating our scavenger hunt activity - and to Paulie McKown and Sarah Starrett for providing us with a delicious and eco-friendly breakfast during our pre-meeting social time!

Happy winners of the very challenging scavenger hunt: Sherry Bourgious, Barbara Frank, Bonnie Rohmer, and Karen Savage. The floral arrangement "prizes" were courtesy of Flowers of Dreams, the featured speaker for our January 2022 membership meeting.

Affiliates' Day 2021

On September 21, we celebrated our wonderful affiliate members with a special event in Belgium. Many of our long-time members were treated to a lecture and garden tour by Impatient Gardener, Erin Schanen, (www.impatientgardener.com) followed by a tour of Judy Moon's spectacular lakefront property and a delicious luncheon. Many thanks to our fabulous hostess Judy Moon, organizer extraordinare Cato Schley, and able assistants Sherry Bourgious, Buffy Duback, Sara Murphy, Sarah Starrett, and Mary Sullivan.

Summer Blooms Luncheon

Vicki Kunz, owner of La Tulipe in Cedarburg, discussed the "Farm to Vase" movement and created a lovely arrangement using white viburnum, flowering branches, pink peonies, butterfly ranunculus and gorgeous peony tulips. These varieties were grown by flower farmers in Wisconsin. Centerpieces for the luncheon also made use of locally sourced flowers.

Be sure to visit Vicki's new store, La Terre, a European-style flower and gift market located in Mequon's Spur 16 development.
